Featuring items such as our family recipe Italian sausages, prosciutto, cannoli’s and fine cheese grated in-store (without fillers), we assure you the finest quality deli items that you will not find anywhere else. Our deli also proudly serves over 40 salad and olive mixes, in addition to ready made sandwiches for lunch on-the-go.

We have an array of unique imported & craft beers, ales, meads and ciders. Our inventory ranges from seasonal and year-round offerings of local microbrews, classic eurobrews to beers from Australia, South America, Asia & more.
At G.B. Russo & Son, we carry a medley of kitchenware from the Feemster slicer to more modern items such as Chef’N or Zyliss. Our product line includes cast iron cookware, ceramic bake and serveware, pizza pans, cutting boards and more. We are also an OXO Platinum Peeler retailer due to our breadth of selection of their products. You will find everything from cake decorating tips to wine racks and accessories to utensils in our kitchenware aisle.
For 111 years, G.B. Russo & Son has provided West Michigan with the largest selection of wine, beer, specialty food and housewares. Giovanni B. Russo came to Grand Rapids in 1902 from the small village of Montelepre, Sicily. He worked for the gas company until he saved enough money to fund his own store in 1905. His first small store was in East Grand Rapids ,at Reeds Lake. In 1908, he purchased the building at 746-752 S. Division in Grand Rapids, the heart of what was then called “Little Italy” where parents and siblings also worked with him. When his only son, Frank, was born in 1916, the company name was changed from G.B. Russo Importer to G.B. Russo & Son.
The store thrived throughout the great depression as a result of reducing costs by living above the store and employing family members only. In 1953, Frank later opened Russo’s Pizzeria, Grand Rapids’ first pizza takeout, and it remained in the family until it closed in 1985. G.B. Russo & Son continued to grow and strive through adversity, including a fire that destroyed the building just days after dropping the building insurance coverage, and the Grand Rapids riots of 1967. In 1976, G.B. Russo & Son needed more retail space and parking and moved to its current location on 29th Street. Although involved throughout their childhood, Frank’s sons, Phil and Dave now became involved full-time with the day-to-day business. They gradually absorbed many key activities of the business.
In the mid 1990s, Frank retired, although his input was always considered and he remained interested in the business. In 2007, the fifth generation entered the business when Kelley Russo joined as a full-time employee. In 2008, the business again needed more retail space and parking. The decision was made to double the size of the store to 18,000 square feet. Since then, customers marvel at the size and selection of products in the remodeled store. Today, the store has a 45 foot deli case with over 300 meats and cheeses from around the world, olives, fresh baked breads, oils, private label pastas and sauces, our own homemade Villa Russo frozen entrees and more. We carry thousands of wines; boutique, small productions wines from the west coast; classic wines of Europe; New World wines of Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and South America, and a wide selection of Michigan (local) wines We have a large selection of unique beers, ales, meads ciders, liquors and liqueurs. We also carry a wide variety of kitchenware gadgets and are an Oxo Platinum Peeler retailer, a special level determined by breadth of selection and volume of sales.
